Im Van Woody, Creator of this web site and I work for John Maher Builders and made this page to help my clients in the process of building their home. I hope you find this page helpful as I have spent years amazing this website to do just that.
At John Maher Builders we offer our buyers a very wide variety of included color selections inside and outside the home when buyers choose to build a home from from the ground up. The exteriors of our homes in Wades Grove are 4 sides brick and many of the homes offer additional accents of Western Cedar, stone walls, vinyl shake, Hardy board in the form of “Board and Batten” or “lap siding” also in Hardy board as our exterior accents to the 4 sides brick. These additional accents are included in the price. Some homes offer some features that others do not, so some of these elements are plan specific, so please ask Van Woody, John Maher’s agent first for details. Below are several examples of the many exterior features we offer in our exteriors that you can refer to while reading descriptions below to help give you an understanding of these options.
When building your home from the ground up we will need to know right away a couple of things to get started. First what elevation you want us to build. Many of our homes come in different exterior looks. Some we can tweak to make look different, to keep away from the cookie-cutter look. We will also need to know what color your windows will be, EITHER WHITE OR ALMOND are our two choices. Also what window grid pattern you like for your windows and garage doors. Here is that link CLICK HERE. Next is the color of your brick. First come first served and we will not duplicate brick colors outside of the boundaries stated below in the in- house rule. Use the guide below to determine what brick you can choose. Van keeps an updated brick chart in his office so you can check or call ahead to prevent any disappointment, in learning your brick color is not available. There are also some discontinued colors I have written in the report below so make sure to look at that as well. Its really not complicated once you understand the rules. We just offer you a lot of options compared to many other builders.
There are well over a dozen brick choices that our buyers are allowed to chose from when building from scratch. However when choosing a brick color, our In-House rule is to not duplicate a brick color that has already been used on either side of the home and also the home that is straight across from the home and also the ones immediately to the left and right of the home across the street.
ABOBE IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE IN-HOUSE BRICK RULE. IF YOU CHOOSE A BRICK COLOR ON LOT 646 THEN THAT BRICK COLOR CAN NOT BE REPEATED EITHER RIGH OR LEFT OF LOT 646 OR DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET AND RIGHT AND LEFT OF THE HOME DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET. ALSO VERY DISTINCTIVE BRICK COLORS CAN ONLY BE USED A FEW PER STREET.
There are a couple bricks that are also distinctive that are limited to be used repeatedly. One instance is a Boral brick called “Old Jackson”. That particular brick is very high profile and we only allow a few per street since that brick really stands out and would look cookie-cutter if you used the same house rule above. Here is an updated brick and exterior sheet as of 3/17 that will show you by address what colors are being used in our newest sections of the community. Use this as a guide too chose your exterior colors. If you Download this file and drive the community just make plenty of notes what colors and options you like and community that to me to make this process go much faster. Also on this sheet there is a column left of the address that shows the lot number. That is easier if you tell me the lot number versus the address as they are numerical in order and easier to find. Some of the homes will include accents of different materials and some homes there will not be the same choices. This is to minimize having the cookie cutter look that many neighborhood have. Our accents to the 4 sides brick we use in our community are Hardy board in either lap siding or board and batten. We also have vinyl shake accents and hand laid stone accents we offer these as included features on many of our plans. Some plans you may pay a premium to add Stone or if you would like to upgrade to the Hardie shake accents versus the vinyl that can also be priced out and added.
In many cases you will have a choice of your front porch columns, (plan specific as some homes do not have columns), being either rough Western Cedar or painted wood. All our shutters are made of Western cedar and you will also have a choice of that color. Some buyers match the color of the porch stain to the same color as the shutters. Some buyers change the stain colors completely. That is another choice you will have, if you purchase ahead of these items being available to choose. Many of our homes will also offer cedar or painted accents around the dormer areas, we call them spider webs. These are used in the pointed roof sections consisting of one straight 2×4 board and what I would best describe as an inverted piece sign of 3 converging 2×4 boards. It is a unique accent that many buyers choose to incorporate into their exterior facade. Another choice that we offer is either adding a planter box under one or two windows, (plan specific). These planter boxes also can be either painted or in cedar. You will see many of these peppered throughout Wades Grove.
Our window supplier is Atrium. They come in a choice of white or almond color and have a fantastic 10 year glass replacement warranty but also come in many different grid patterns. The grid work is a a vinyl strip of about 1/2 inch wide that is placed between the two panes of glass and changes the number of window panes inside each window pane. It is a small detail we offer our clients that build from the ground up. We also offer a choice of the grid work in the glass of the garage doors. We have a great selection we offer our buyers. Click Here to see a link to this choice we offer buyers. You will also see a few upgraded doors in this link. Our standard door is a solid panel door on pour homes.
Our Gutters and our garage door colors are another option we offer our buyers. Not only can you choose your window pattern in the garage door, but also the color of the garage door and gutters. Most buyers match the garage door and gutter color to the trim and window color, but you do not have to! Click Here to see a link to match the colors of the garage door and gutters to the trim/
I hope you find this information helpful in your selections process.
